Hair Extensions...Please Help!?

I just spent a lot of Money on some hair extentions and when i got home realized that i had no clue on how to put them on.

My sister said she'd seen someone braid their hair and sew the extention to the braid.

We're not sure so does anyone know if there is a better way to do this?

Can you expalin it to me Step by Step?

Thanks!

Are the extensions in a long band, or individual pieces? If they're in a band, you want to start a few inches up from the nape of the neck %26amp; basically do a large cornrow horizontally across the head, from ear to ear. Get a large, hooked needle and thread made for extensions at a beauty supply %26amp; basically sew the extension strip to the braid. It can be a bit tricky, but quite a few of the girls I go to school with know how to do this %26amp; teach others. You might want to go to your local cosmetology school and see if you can hire someone to help you.

Whatever you do, though, I'd advise staying away from glue! It will end in disaster unless done by a professional!

you have to go to a salon where you can get them sewn in or glued in.

you can only do it yourself if they're clip-on extensions, not just tracks (individual hair pieces)

No you have to braid your hair to your head and then sew them in! Just go back to hair dresser and ask! or look for directions!!

The best way would be to take them to the salon and have someone sew them in or glue them in. The best method really depends on your hair texture... some people have fine hair that can't really hold a braid so it is simpler to just glue it in.

You can only do it yourself if you have clips not tracks or singles so goodluck :)

If your going to sew them in, you should have a professional do it and it is a lot healthier than glue. But the gluing is easy to do at home. You just part your hair where you want the track to go and put the glue on your scalp than hold the track to your head for a while.

I would recommend calling the place you purchased the extensions and asking them. It is difficult to describe how to do it if you don't already know how. It is rather simple but it takes practice. It is better to let a professional do it or someone who has done it before rather than try to do it yourself.

there are different kinds of extensions.

there are ones that look like this: http://img.alibaba.com/photo/50511470/Re...

these extensions are meant to be fused. you need roughly 250 of them to do a full head. you need a special device to fuse them and can't do them yourself. and upscale salon will charge about $2500 to do them (less if you provide them with the hair)

these are the easiest to do by yourself with nice results. it comes on a long track, so you can cut them to fit your head. you can either sew it clips on each end of each track (http://www.hairhumanhair.com/Clip-In-hai... or you can sew them into braids on your head.

to use clips: first you want to start at the nape of your neck and measure one side of your hair line to the other. cut it so you have a track to fit from one side to the other. do this every 1-2 inches up your head. you should end up with between 5-8 tracks. once you have your tracks (you may have extra hair which you can save for later), sew a clip into each side of the track. you can buy clips at the same place you bought the hair.. probably 3/$1. once they clips are sewn on to the track, you can clip them right into your hair. easy as that.

sewing: sewing extensions means you have to be familliar with braiding (cornrowing). after youve cut your tracks to fit your head, you have to braid your head so you have enough cornrows for each track (8 tracks = 8 braids) going horizontally across your scalp. depending on how familliar you are with them, the braiding alone could take a few hours. if you hair normal or fine hair, it's best to braid while the hair is dirty, and wash when the braids are finished. once you've braided, you can sew the tracks into the brads using a thread needle with a rouded point. it's just like stitching a patch onto a shirt. it's essentially the same thing.

these take a while because you have to do a lot of tiny braids. there are many different ways of doing it, but basically what you do is take sections of hair (no bigger than 1cmx1cm) and braiding the hair. as you braid, you add some of the fake hair to the braid, little by little, and then once your real hair is finished, you continue braiding the extensions. some people only braid about an inch past their scalp and let the extensions act as real hair. others braid until the end.

i hope that helped!
