Curling my hair?

my hair is naturally wavy and i have a lot of layers in my hair so when it air dries it gets poofy. And i want to get my hair really nice and curly, but i've tried a lot of curling shampoos and conditioners but they don't work. here are the ones i have used:

*garnier curl %26amp; shine

*herbel essence, the purple bottled one

*and dove.

what other ones do you suggest?

i also braided my hair but that makes it poofy too. curlers don't work either. so in the end i just end up straightening everything at it's so plain. what other kinds of shampoos %26amp; conditioners work? does redken?

john frieda has great curling products that help moisturize to not make ur hair frizzy

Curling my hair?

heres what i do (or used to do, i just got my hair cut yesterday):

1.take a shower at night, washing and condtioning hair (you don't need a curling shampoo/conditioner for this)

2. brush hair through and then sweep back as if you were putting it into a smooth ponytail.

3. while its still wet, sweep it up, twist it, then twist it into a tight bun.

4. leave the bun in overnigiht until you wake up, then take it out, shake your hair out, and to keep the curls in without it being poofy, use herbal essence totally twisted curl scrunching gel.

you can put into whatever style you want.

-also if you want a part, on step 2 don't sweep it back. keep the part in.

this works great!

Curling my hair?

dont curl it- it kills ur hair and u will burn urself

Curling my hair?

I just got a haircut today, and I asked my hairdresser this very question!! She helped me get it into a really poofy, bouncy, curly style. Here's what she did:

*After she cut my hair, she put some gel in my hair. She used KMS for curly hair.

*She scrunched the gel throughout my hair so that each strand was evenly coated. She also had me flip my head upside down to get the underside of my hair.

*After all that scrunching, she took a paper towel and blotted the excess moisture that was left over from my shampoo. (There was enough gel in the hair so that blotting out the product wasn't a concern). Rhonda, my hairdresser, said that you need to get as much extra water out of the hair shaft for a bouncy curl.

*Finally, she took a blow dryer, with a diffuser attachment, and started drying my hair. First she had me flip my hair upside down to dry the part underneath for volume. Rhonda added that it's important that the curls touch the diffuser as you dry the hair, so they maintain bounce. After about 10 minutes with my hair flipped over, I flipped back up, and she dried the top part.

As for shampoos, I personally use Nexxus Therappe and Humectress Conditioner because I have dry hair to boot. However, I have a friend who has curly hair as well, and she absolutely swears by the Deva Curl line of hair products. It's a fairly new product line that just came out of New York City, and her hairdresser's near that area, so she has access to the products. Ouidad makes good products for curly hair too.

Finally, try the website naturallycurly.com. It's got reviews of all sorts of products for hair like ours, from gels to blow dryers! Good luck with your hair and let us know how it turns out!
